7th international fiber art biennale: lausanne to beijing

Nantong, China 8th November 2012- 12th January 2013

Ebony Lace is a unique contemporary lace comprising two large-scale works that experiment with alternative construction and stitching processes. The methodology draws from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which celebrates imperfection and impermanence in handmade objects. Embedded in the lace panel is a deliberate “mistake” to emphasise the bespoke qualities of handmade crafted design.

The work was showcased in the 7th International Fiber Art Biennale Exhibition, From Lausanne to Beijing, Nantong, China

Ebony Lace received a Highly Commended Award from the Biennale.

Dimensions: 250 cm x 85 cm
